Canadian Christmas Tree Growers to Meet in New Brunswick The Annual Meeting for the Canadian Christmas Tree Growers' Association will be held on Friday and Saturday, August 20 and 21, 2010, in beautiful Woodstock, New Brunswick. The business meeting will commence at 9:00 AM on Friday morning. As the day progresses there will be some business presentations from industry partners. Some of the key topics on the table this year will be a dialogue about a mechanism that will allow Christmas tree producers to participate in federal horticultural programs and the international regulation of plant products for health and safety protocols. Border inspections are only likely to increase. (In fact, Saturday morning's agenda will include a full presentation from Canada and Americam Border Services.)

Saturday's presentations and field tour will include an update from Dr. Peter Silk. who has been developing an extremely powerful pheromone for one of our most severe pests. Dr. Silk will now be able to speak about his first year's work with this new compound. Also on the agenda is Daryl Lingley, from the Soil Food Web, who will be updating attendees about the methods his group is utilizing to enhance the productivity and health of soils. The host committee has negotiated special rates with the Best Western Woodstock and the Howard Johnson Inn Woodstock (both are on the registration form). Press Release December 1st, 2009 Trees for our Troops’ Families 2009Valcartier, Quebec: On December 5th, 2009, the Canadian Christmas Tree Growers Association will present 1500 natural Christmas trees to the families of Canadian troops on the base. Trees will also be delivered to Canadian Forces Bases across the country.
